Western RI Civic and Historical Society Heritage Day
9/12/2026 At the Paine House Museum in Coventry. Dyer Camp 7 returned to Heritage Day with an educational display and public enganement.
Celebrating Three Generations - An America's 250th Observance honoring the Arnold-Whipple Family.
October 18, 2026 - Pocasset Cemetery, Cranston. 1:00 P.M. This ceremony will honor the Arnold–Whipple family of Warwick and Cranston, three generations who served across three American wars: Anthony Arnold (Kent County Militia, Revolution) and Job Whipple (1st Rhode Island Continental Regiment, present at the surrender at Yorktown), whose children would marry; Anthony's son Russell G. Arnold (War of 1812), Job's son-in-law; and Russell's three sons: Fred Augustus, Henry Anthony, and Edwin Whipple Arnold, who all served in the Civil War, Fred later commanding Rhode Island's Grand Army of the Republic. All three brothers rest together at Pocasset Cemetery in Cranston.
